Cat tensed up when she heard Brook’s voice. This was why she was nervous in the first place. Cat had hoped that Brook would stay in the back, but there was no running now.
Jake seemed pleased to see his older sister. Time for Cat to put on her best face.
“What’s up?” Cat smiled at her.
“Oh nothing just thought I would join you guys.”
Jake got up to get her another chair from the back. The parlor was steadily filling up and chairs were scarce. Just Cat’s luck.
Brook watched her brother go and quickly turned towards the problem, “So Cat, how long are you going to play this game?”
“What are you talking about?” Cat could feel her inner bitch twisting up. She clenched her knuckles.
“This thing you call love with my brother?”
“I do love Jake!” or she believed so. Her mind kept screaming Adam over and over. Making her ill about the whole ideal.
“Do I hear a question in your tone?”
“Where do you get off coming at me like this?” Cat’s knuckles turned white.
“Oh who do you think you are princess?!” Brook’s voice in a loud whisper.
“Fuck you, Jake and my relationship is none of your business.” Cat was going to lose her cool in the middle of the family’s restaurant. Not good…
“Look here girly, don’t fuck with my family. It will be a mistake that you will dearly pay for, love.”
“Brook you fucking stole my chair,” Jake was back and so was Brook’s sunny attitude.
“Oh no, girls first. Isn’t that right, Cat?”
Cat was still pissed and wanted to lash out. She wanted to smack the smirk off her face. But instead she kept quiet. And she felt bad when Jake looked at her weird.
The conversation was pleasant once Jake sat down. Well THEIR conversation was pleasant. Cat kept quiet most of the time unless a question was directed towards her.
She did not enjoy the way Brook talked to her. And she saw those little dirty looks Brook would send her way when Jake’s head was turned.
“Whoops!” Brook exclaimed.
Whoops indeed. Because Brook had ‘accidently’ knocked her coke over on the table which incidentally spilled on Cat’s dress.
“Fuck!” Cat’s eyes filled with tears, which she quickly blinked away. She would not show her tears to Brook.
“You bitch,” Cat was seething.  Her once white dress was now freshly decorated with brown. And Cat did not consider it her style.
“Calm down Cat. It was accident,” Jake said mopping the table up with napkins. He looked so disappointed.
Cat looked bewildered. Shit, he was taking his sister’s side. Oh she knew it was no accident! But what could she do in front of Jake?
“Really, Cat a little baking soda will clean that right out,” Brook said mockingly, the smirk never leaving her face.
Cat did not know what to do. She couldn’t very well attack her beau’s sister. At least not yet.
Cat did what she did best, put on her best fake smile, “Sorry I overreacted. Sweetie, I better be going.”
She looked around. Made sure the parents were still in the back. Good...Cat stood up and went over to Jake. She gave him a chaste kiss which quickly turned when she straddled Jake and pulled him in deeper. Threading her fingers through his hair. At first he was uptight, but he eased into the kiss soon enough. Cat knew how to get him going. She pulled away and winked at him, “Bye, luv.”
Cat went to kitchen to say goodbye. Was glomped by the mother and had to explain her dress and turn down money for dry cleaning before she finally made it to the door.
“Oh bye Brook,” And Cat choked down her laughter at the obvious dismal on her face.
Score one for Cat.
Hehe...I love Brook. But I still have love for Cat.
Adam will be back in the next installment.
